Overview
If you've been running your business with Google Calendar and Gmail, you don't need to start from scratch in Avro. Connecting these accounts imports your history — calendar events become jobs, and email threads are matched to clients. You stay connected on an ongoing basis so new events and emails continue to sync.
Connecting Google Calendar
-
Go to Settings > Connectors.
-
Click "Connect new account" and choose Google Calendar.
-
A Google sign-in window opens. Choose the Google account that has your business calendar and grant Avro read-only access. Avro only reads your calendar — it never writes to it or modifies your Google events.
-
Avro runs an import in the background. It pulls in calendar events and attempts to match them to clients in your Avro account (by name or address). Events it can't match are held for your review at Settings > Connectors > Unmatched.
-
Review unmatched items. For each unmatched item, you can create a new client, link it to an existing client, or discard it.
Connecting Gmail
-
Go to Settings > Connectors.
-
Click "Connect new account" and choose Gmail.
-
Sign in with Google and grant read-only access. Avro only reads emails — it does not send or delete them.
-
Avro imports email conversations and matches them to clients by email address. Unmatched conversations appear at Settings > Connectors > Unmatched.
Outlook
Gmail is supported now. Outlook support is coming soon.
Subscribing your Avro calendar to Google Calendar (the other direction)
If you want your Avro jobs to appear in Google Calendar (rather than the other way around), go to Settings > Calendar subscriptions. Avro gives you a private iCal feed URL. Add this URL as a new calendar in Google Calendar ("Add calendar > From URL") and your Avro jobs will show up as read-only events.
Common questions
Does Avro get write access to my Google Calendar? No. Avro requests read-only access. It can import your events but it cannot create, edit, or delete any Google Calendar events.
Will my Google Calendar events be deleted from Avro if I disconnect? No. Imported data stays in Avro after you disconnect. Disconnecting just stops future syncing.
How often does the sync run? Calendar sync runs during onboarding as a one-time import. Email sync runs every 5 minutes on an ongoing basis once connected.
What if a calendar event was matched to the wrong client? Open the job that was created from that event and reassign it to the correct client. The imported event is not changed in Google — only the Avro job record is updated.
