Marking a job complete and writing a report

Close out a job once the work is done and attach a report your customer can download.

Overview

When a job is finished, you mark it complete in Avro. You can also attach a written report — a structured document that records what was done, what was found, and any recommendations. Reports can be shared with the customer via a link or downloaded as a PDF.

Marking a job complete

  1. Open the job. Find it on the calendar or in the Jobs list and click to open the detail page.

  2. Click "Mark complete". The job status changes to "Completed". This records the completion time and makes the job available for invoicing.

  3. Add any final notes. If there's anything the technician needs to log — what was done, what they found, follow-up recommendations — enter it in the Notes card before closing the job.

Writing a report (optional but recommended)

Reports are the formal, customer-facing document attached to a job. They use structured templates so every report looks professional and consistent.

  1. From the job detail page, click "New report" (or navigate to Reports > New).

  2. Choose a template. Avro provides templates for building inspections, general condition reports, and (for pest control operators) termite and pest-specific templates. Pick the one that matches the work done.

  3. Fill in the sections. Each template has structured fields — tick boxes, text areas, photo upload spots, and sketch areas. Work through each section.

  4. Upload photos. Tap the photo upload area in any section to attach photos from your device.

  5. Mark the report as final. When you're happy with it, click "Finalise". The report is locked for editing and a PDF is generated.

  6. Share with the customer. Once finalised, you can share the report via a link. The customer receives a read-only view and can download the PDF themselves.

Common questions

Can I edit a report after finalising it? No. Finalised reports are locked to preserve their integrity. If you need to correct a report, contact support — in practice, the best approach is to create a new report and note that it supersedes the previous one.

Do I have to write a report for every job? No. Reports are optional. For simple jobs a note in the Notes card is often enough. Reports are most useful for inspections, assessments, or any job where the customer needs a formal record.

Can the customer see the report without me sending a link? No. Reports are only visible to your customers when you explicitly share a link. They also appear in the customer portal if your customer has a portal account.

What if I need to attach a document that isn't a structured report? Use the Files card on the job detail page. You can upload any file type (PDF, image, Word doc) and optionally generate a shareable download link.
